As one of our most robust and best-selling outdoor furniture collections, Chesapeake continues to evolve with a new, ecologically sustainable wood construction. The entire collection is now crafted from kiln-dried solid eucalyptus that’s FSC certified from responsibly managed forests. We chose eucalyptus because of its strength, quick growth and its attractive teak-like appearance as it weathers through the years. Each piece is expertly constructed with sturdy mortise-and-tenon joinery, then hand-rubbed with an oil stain that enhances the wood’s natural moisture resistance, and finished marine-grade steel hardware for lasting durability. The result is a collection that imparts all the style and quality construction of indoor furniture, but is specially made to endure the outdoors.
For Summer 2010, our Chesapeake Collection has been re-engineered with FSC-certified eucalyptus. The popular Chesapeake Dining Table has been redesigned with a new butterfly extension and self-storing leaves to effortlessly accommodate large parties and intimate gatherings. Our earth-friendly Chesapeake Platform Sectional has the low-slung, casual design and generous proportions with all the comforts of a living room sofa. The slim, foldaway profile of our Steamer Chaise is modeled after the classic designs found on cruise ships, and is perfect for smaller spaces. Our traditional chaises, now made of FSC-certified wood, come in both single and double sizes with a thick, Sunbrella-covered cushion that has all the comfort of a mattress.
Pottery Barn Kids offers a Chesapeake Collection created especially for kids, with the idea that children’s outdoor furniture should be just as strong, well-designed and attractive. Our miniature Andirondack Chairs, table and chair sets, sandboxes and umbrellas are made with exactly the same expert construction and FSC-certified solid eucalyptus as our adult sizes.
