While touring the Tuscan hill town, Volterra, our designer spotted an antique cabinet in a tailor’s shop outfitted with dozens of drawers for everything from fabric to scissors and buttons. We created the Toscana Buffet to capture its Old World charm, and worked with a renowned finish expert to develop a 14-step hand finish to emulate its timeworn beauty. Our exclusive Tuscan chestnut finish is hand applied in layers, with distressing and burnished edges. Bronze-finished cup pulls on the drawers complement the rich wood tones.
Yet its antique charm also fits our lifestyle today. The Toscana Buffet is designed to work as a media console as well as a traditional buffet. The faux-drawers on either side are actually cabinet doors with generous shelving that adjust to accommodate an entire media system. Back panel cutouts manage wires and cords. Three deep center drawers are perfect for keeping a media library. Whether you use it to store electronics or dishes, serving pieces and linens, its authentic character is ideally suited to both living room and dining room.
With its expansive planked table top, x-shaped supports, and keyed-through tenons, the Toscana Trestle Table evokes a 19th-century Northern Italian tailor’s table. The design maximizes legroom and serving space, making the table ideal for large gatherings. Two 18"leaves drop in at either end to expand the length to over ten feet, comfortably accommodating up to ten guests. The coordinating bench spans the entire length of the table.
Together these pieces offer versatile storage and a rich sense of history. Starting July 14, you’ll be able to purchase the Toscana Buffet and Trestle Table and more from the new fall collection online, in stores and through a dedicated Trade Representative.
