As longtime fans of the handmade movement, we were thrilled to see the website Etsy grow to become the top online destination marketplace for one-of-a-kind vintage and handmade items.
Described as both a company and a community, Etsy was established in 2005 to help creative people make a living by making things - and to connect buyers and sellers in a more personal way. The Etsy community has since grown to span the globe, with buyers and sellers representing more than 150 countries. Sellers alone now number in the hundreds of thousands—and we’ve visited quite a few of their Etsy shops.
In collaboration with Etsy, we're highlighting unique pieces from the site’s artisans in our catalog pages. Each work of art is available for sale directly from the artists’ independent shops on Etsy.com.
For summer, we’ve got Maarit Mattanen’s birch-inspired pottery, PM Custom’s sleek steel accessories and studio style furniture and Kimball Prints’ sweet landscapes and botanically printed tote bags.
We also occupy a little corner of etsy.com where you can view our Favorite Items and Favorite Shops. Here, we've highlighted the art and artisans we think look best mixed with our latest collections.
But our collaboration doesn’t end in our catalogs and online. We’ve also worked with Etsy sellers on special events in some of our stores. Called "WE Heart Handmade Art," these pop-up marketplaces enable Etsy artisans to show their wares directly to our customers—live and in person. The marketplaces pop up and or customers pop in.
